Jeanie Marie Buss (born Jeanie Marie Buss) is an American woman in business. The current president is as well as the sole owner of the Los Angeles Lakers National Basketball Association. Buss is a native of California and grew up as part of a wealthy family. Jerry Buss is her father. He was a real estate tycoon, and later the manager of Lakers and other enterprises. She felt abandoned emotionally as her parents divorced in 1972. At 19 years old, she joined the family's business, serving as director of the Los Angeles Strings professional tennis team. The team was later renamed the Los Angeles Blades, a professional, roller-hockey club. Prior to becoming vice-president of the Lakers She was also the president of the Great Western Forum. Buss' father died in 2013 which is when the Lakers were passed down by her as well as five of her siblings through an inheritance trust. Each sibling had the same number of votes. She assumed the office as the President of the Los Angeles Lakers. Buss also owns Women of Wrestling, a professional wrestling promotion with headquarters at Los Angeles.
